WOOLWORTHS BATTERY & MOBILE PHONE RECYCLING UNIT TRIAL
E-waste is one of Australia’s fastest-growing waste streams. 345 million handheld and household batteries are used every year but 94% are not recycled and it is estimated that there are 24.5 million unused mobile phones being stored in homes around Australia. All batteries contain harmful substances that can damage the environment when improperly disposed into landfill.
As a responsible retailer, Woolworths has partnered with Ecobatt & MobileMuster to trial a household battery and mobile phone take-back scheme in seven (7) of their stores across NSW and Victoria until October 2020.
