Battery Pollution Technologies

Battery Pollution Technologies is an Australian battery recycling and technology startup. It is focused on: the physical recycling of spent lithium batteries; the development of world class technology in relation to the recovery processes for cobalt, rare earths and other battery metals; and is advancing other technologies to drive true circular economy initiatives in the battery recycling & Battery Manufacturing Sector.

In August 2023 the proprietary process of black mass separation has been completed successfully with scale up strategies now being pursued.

Processing of lithium based batteries will commence in early 2024 in NSW. Battery Pollution is specialising in large lithium batteries such as those used in large scale energy storage and in heavy vehicles and equipment.

The business is also exploring 2nd life batteries, battery safety technology and the engineering constraints around battery recycling – including deenergising, disassembly and safe transportation.
