SOURCING CORONAVIRUS FACTS AND SUPPORT

We are all now very aware that Coronavirus is impacting nearly every aspect of our lives. In this rapidly evolving environment it is important we take care to access Coronavirus information from trusted sources. ABRI aims to provide members with helpful tools to access practical solutions and reduce stress associated with unknowns and fake news.

This newsletter includes a number of government websites and tools to help you to access the latest information to understand Coronavirus facts and access government support.

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT WHATSAPP SERVICE

The Australian government has released a WhatsApp service which provides a useful number based menu system that links you to information on Coronavirus such as the latest news, important state government contacts, and support for businesses.

Setting up the App requires a two step process, firstly installing Whats app on your device, then going to the government website to connect with the Government WhatsApp Service.

CORONAVIRUS AUSTRALIA APP

The Coronavirus Australia app can be downloaded for IOS or Android devices and will enable you to:

– stay up to date with the official information and advice

– important health advice to help stop the spread and stay healthy

– get a quick snapshot of the current official status within Australia

– check your symptoms if you are concerned about yourself or someone else

– find relevant contact information

– access updated information from the Australian Government

– receive push notifications of urgent information and updates

BUTTON BATTERY SAFETY – ACCC ASSESSMENT OF REGULATORY OPTIONS – CONSULTATION PAPER

The ACCC is seeking feedback from stakeholders including consumers, retailers, manufacturers and health professionals on the proposed policy options to improve button battery safety. The Button Battery Safety – Assessment of regulatory options – Consultation paper outlines the ACCC assessment of regulatory options.

LI-CYCLE READY TO TAP INTO ‘ROBUST’ BATTERY METALS NICHE

Canadian battery recycler Li-Cycle Corp. reports it recently completed its first shipment of commercially recycled lithium-ion battery material. The shipped product was processed at Li-Cycle’s facility in Ontario, Canada, and contained critical metals—such as cobalt, nickel and lithium.

WASHINGTON STATE HB 2645 - CONCERNING THE PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE TAKEBACK PROGRAM

Washington State is introducing legislation to establish a photovoltaic module (PV) stewardship and takeback program. If signed by the Governor, it will go into effect 90 days after session or June 11, 2020.
